Mercedez Benz, multinational division of the German manufacturer Daimler AG known for it’s luxurious machines in the automobiles segment has launched a new entrant, ” Mercedez Benz E63″ to upgrade it’s portfolio and to strengthen it’s network in the Indian market.
Mercedez Benz is a popular brand which provides a wide range of luxurious automobiles, buses, coaches, and trucks. Coming towards the details for the launch of the day Mercedes Benz A63 AMG is very popular — like the American muscle cars — for their straight-line performance. In terms of powertrain, Mercedes Benz AMG E63 is powered with 5.5 litre of twin-turbo AMG V8 engine which deliver a tremendous output of 550bhp and 720Nm of torque. This machine is mated with a 7-speed AMG Speedshift MCT auto ‘box, and is directed solely at the rear wheels. Giving a glance towards it’s gearbox, it is equipped with different driving modes such as – ‘C’ (Controlled Efficiency) for normal driving, “M” (Manual) for when you want to take charge, “S” (Sport) to have some fun and “S+” for when you want to wet yourself.
Ola Källenius, AMG’s CEO, explains that its products should have a split personality: “AMG cars are all designed so that that they can be driven everyday. But they are also expected to perform well at the track. We think 4MATIC will enhance this dual capability.”
Enumerating it’s speed, Mercedes claims the E63 will crack the 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds, and when you’ve got this much power in a rear-wheel-drive supersaloon, you need to put it on a leash. The top speed of this machine is 250 kmph which makes you wet. In terms of fuel efficiency, company officials claims that the E63 only needs 9.8 litres of unleaded to travel 100 kilometres.
Källenius goes on to explain: “It has taken us about two and a half years of engineering to take the basics of the 4MATIC and redevelop it for AMG purposes. For AMG, the 4MATIC torque split is revised, biased 67 percent to the rear axle, 33 percent to the front, and it is actually quicker on the track than our previous rear-drive configuration.”
Briefing it’s safety measures as per it’s mildly scary power figures, the Mercedes E63 carries quite a bit of safety kit – 8 airbags, an Intelligent Light System with cornering function and Adaptive High Beam with automatic switching between high and low beam modes.
The price of Mercedes E63 is Rs 1.29 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). At the same price some of the other options like BMW M5 and the recently-introduced Audi S6 are available in the market.
