Finally Royal Enfield extends a 2 years limited miles warranty (20,000 kms or 2 years, whichever is earlier) on its entire range of motorcycles sold in India, from 1st January 2015.
Royal Enfield seems to have killed two birds with one stone with this strategic move. Not only will this win over their prospective customers confidence, but will also ensure that he is tied with their authorized service centers /dealership for one more year.
Classic 500 with UCE
Very few customers stayed with Royal Enfield authorized workshops for their servicing needs, after the end of the one year warranty period, due to the availability of competent mechanics at much lower costs outside. However this will keep the dealers happy as the new owners will be obliged to service their bikes only at Royal Enfield authorized workshops.
The new UCE engine has gradually got rid of its niggling issues and is becoming more and more dependable. Now whether this extended warranty will translate into any real world advantage in providing its customers with timely resolutions to their problems, remains to be seen.
