TATA Motors, one of the leading car maker in automobile industry worldwide is in news once again. As per the earlier reports, it was rumored that Tata Motors will extend their network in Australia and now this rumors receives official stamp from TATA as company has announced to launch it’s brand under this continent. Today, company has revealed it’s first jointly prepared concept of Tata Xenon Tuff Truck in collaboration with Fusion automotive has prepared this concept truck.
Fusion Automotive will serve as an Australian distributor of Tata Motors . Tata Motors decided to use this opportunity to show off its potential at the National 4×4 & Outdoors Show and Fishing & Boating Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds. The Tata Xenon based Tuff Truck concept is designed to enhance the presence of the Indian manufacturer in Australia and to announce the arrival of Tata Xenon in the LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) segment. This unique design of the beefed version of Tata Xenon was headed by Julian Quincey, chief designer, Walkinshaw Automotive.
This new Tuff Truck Concept features an aggressive front bumper, LED daytime running lights, 20 inch alloy wheels coupled to an off-road tyres. The concept features an exclusive designed body kit and accessories pack, making it more aggressive and sporty, such as the wheels, snorkel and sports bar with the roof, driving and sport lights.
Under the hood, Tata has not made any modifications and the Tuff Truck will be powered with a 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine that sends 148 PS of max power to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The Tata Tuff Truck is fully functional, however it will likely remain just a concept. From the sources, we also came to know that the regular Tata Xenon is slated to make its debut in Australia this October 2013.
Speaking at the unveiling, Managing Director of Fusion Automotive, Darren Bowler comments “We want to gauge public reaction first. The acceptance I am looking for is brand appeal. If you look at the Xenon and the toughness and appeal that it offers in its segment, doing the Tuff Truck Concept immediately boosts that brand appeal from day one. But at the moment it is purely a concept. I’d love to put it in production someday. But the reality is there needs to be the market demand for it first.” Don’t be too surprised if Tata Motors launches a production spec Xenon Tuff Truck as a limited edition model.
The standard version of Tata Xenon, which will go on sale in this October 2013, will feature driver and front passenger airbags as well as in car features such as bluetooth and USB connectivity as standard.
